10 Key differences between Linux and Unix

1. Linux is free, while Unix is paid.
2. Linux default shell is BASH while the Unix shell is Bourne Shell.
3. Linux threat detection and resolution are very fast while Unix users have to wait for longer time for the bug fixing patch.
4. Number of virus reported are less in Linux as compared to Unix.
5. Linux versions are Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSuse & Redhat etc. whil Unix version are HP-UX, IBM AIX, Solaris, SGI IRX etc. And Apple OS is also based on Unix.
6. Linux supports Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, Jfs, ReiserFS, Xfs, Btrfs, FAT, FAT32, NTFS file systems, while UNix supports jfs, gpfs, hfs, hfs+, ufs, xfs, zfs format.
7. Linux is portable and can be booted from a USB Stick, Unix is not portable.
8. Linux uses the Linux kernel, developed by Linus Torvalds, while Unix has its own kernel.
9. Linux has robust support for virtualization technologies like KVM and containers (e.g., Docker). Unix systems may have limited or different virtualization options.
10. Linux typically has a larger number of commands compared to Unix.
