Unconventional website, not CMS

Hi there! Thanks for letting me pick your brains.

Just fresh out of major hacking troubles with WordPress, I am thinking of other ways (not CMS) to create a website. I have experience but am not advanced, so forgive if I sound naive.

Could someone tell me why a single image set to cover the full background (designed in InDesign) could not function as a website, if I define certain areas as buttons and clickable links? I never thought of it before now and there are probably good reasons why it's not done for fancy sites, but what about just a simple one? Could it ever look nice and feel like a regular experience?

Many thanks!

Are you talking about website which has image in background and covers full view? If yes then are you talking about creating button/link on top image OR you want to set particular area where you can click and it works like button/link?

For that you have to get the coordinates of mouse click using JavaScript code. I would suggest you not do this unless you are doing this for small project because you will face trouble in making website responsive. Think about running the save Javascript code on Laptop, Tab & Mobile. Coordinates depends on type of screen. If you are sure that the website will run always on same size of screen like 1920 by 1200 etc.. then only implement this logic.
